Friday’s Other Fun Find: Christmas Carol Contest

file0002141508884Oh. My. Jingle. Bell.

I completely forgot to mention the Christmas Carol Contest because I was so busy singing…wait for it. Christmas carols.

So agent Sally Apokedak is sponsoring a Christmas Carol Contest with a 10-page critique as the prize! All you have to do is come up with a Writer’s Christmas Carol and post it in the comments by December 23rd! Even if you don’t have time to write a carol, I hope you’ll take a quick look at the holly-jolly creativity going on over there.

But I think I should warn you. You won’t be able to not sing. (Yep, I used a double negative. That’s how good they are.)

Friday’s Fun Find: Music to Win By

ImageThere’s a very good reason why I don’t listen to music while writing.

Take this post, for instance. All I had to do was draw two names. But I’m listening to Christmas songs (Neil Diamond, to be holly-specific about it) and I keep stopping to sing along with Neil.

And then I have to remember what I’m writing and the music starts again and I begin to type to the beat and before you know it–Oh holy night, the stars are brightly shining. It is the night of our dear Savior’s birth…

D’oh. The winners are Linda Schueler for Sneaky Art and Debra Mayhew for the Rainy Day Pack! Thanks for all of your comments and I’ll be in touch as soon as I finish singing.

Oh night…when Christ was born. Oh night, oh holy night…Oh night divine.
