Finding Something Friday… An Oldie but a Goldie

Bright and early this morning I opened my Inbox to find an email from my old buddy, Bill. And by old, I mean “not really that old, but older than me.”

Bill and I worked together years ago, finding Fame and Fortune on the radio. Technically, I didn’t find either, but Bill enjoyed a successful career and now is working as a successful freelance voice guy. I guess in some strange and wacky way, he misses those radio days because he does a two-minute podcast every day where he plays stuff from the years and years he spent as a very entertaining personality jock.

Which is where the email came in. He sent me some commercials that I’d written and that he’d produced. We’d done a take-off on “Dallas” (I was Sue Melon)…and a Dragnet spoof that was HI-larious…

Absolutely made my day. I mean, we were BRILLIANT! If I were still that brilliant, I might be able to figure out how to add those commercials here. But for now, I’ll just add Bill’s podcast to Cathy C.’s Hall of Fame. So check it out here or over at DETOURS. I guarantee you’ll find something to smile about. And you may even find the voice of Cathy C. Hall.

  1. Well, Cathy C. Hall you are a phenomenal writer and I hope that everyone who enjoys good writing will get a chance to read your blog and other works. But many of you who read about Cathy may not know truly how great she is. She has done so much for her family. In fact, they would be living in a pile of dirty clothes and eating out every night if it were not for her. But she does not just the big things like washing clothes and cooking meals but she does the little things as well. Her husband travels quite a bit and her son refuses to ride the bus in the mrning so she wakes up at 6:30 and drives him to school. She also drove him to numerous golf practices and lets him borrow the car practically whenever he needs or simply wants to. Folks you truly can’t imagine how great she is. It takes quite a bit to raise three children as well as she has and still find the time and love for her husband. If you haven’t noticed, I am her son John Hall and I can write in words the love I have for this strong, supporting, intelligent, loving and beautiful woman, my mom! So mom instead of blabbering on and trying to find words to desribe how much I appreciate you, I’ll spare the time and brain power and just say thank you for everything and I have never meant that more than now! I love you with all my heart!!! Your son, John Hall

  2. Oh yeah the reason I wrote this on her blog was because everyone should know how truly great she is and what better way to do that than the internet! Once again thanks and I love you mom!

  3. Wow! What a guy, Mrs Hall! You can tell the type of parents people are by their children. And I can say that I have such great admiration for you and “Mr. Hall,” as you like to call him. You have incredible kids and I can’t think of better parents. So, enjoy and accept the beautifully worded tribute from John. What a guy…and how true. You are quite the mom. (group runs in…audible gasps and says…)What a great family!
