I wanted to get this giveaway to y’all Friday but I was off conferencing. (Is that a word? My brain’s so fried with writing wisdom and such, I’m not sure. But I AM sure about Katie Davis’ book.)
Here’s the thing. I hope you win. I really do. Katie Davis’ How to Promote Your Children’s Book is SO good, I can’t even say. In fact, I’m going to let Katie tell you all about it. But first, I’m going to tell you why the rush is on for this giveaway.
Right now–RIGHT NOW–Katie Davis is selling this book at the low price of $4.99. And you won’t just get the book. You’ll get all this other stuff that she’s throwing in, too. I can’t even write it all out. It’s too much. You’ll have to go here and check it out. Seriously, it’s $125.00 worth of her marketing genius stuff, for FREE, when you buy this book for only $4.99.
So even if you don’t win here, you can still buy the book and win. And you win even more if you order the book before March 31st! But I know you’re wondering if you really need this book. Let’s ask Katie!
1. I don’t have my own book out there, so why do I need to worry about book promotion NOW?
is how important it is for every writer to create a platform. All a platform is, is how you communicate online. Or rather, the places you communicate from. Transparent communication is especially important. Why? Transparency builds trust, trust builds bonds, bonds build loyalty and loyalty builds relationships.
So imagine you start that communication the month before your book comes out. How long does it take you to build a relationship? One with real connection? I feel like I have real connection with my peeps, and I started that years ago. I love them! I love helping them, I love seeing them succeed, I get the warm fuzzies when they say that I’ve helped them. I call that being selfishly unselfish: I selfishly feel good having helped someone else.
So you don’t need to “worry” about book promotion. You need to look forward to making friends and building relationships. In other words, building your platform.
2. I’ve already released my book, so it’s too late to get in good book promotion now, right?
Nope! I created the book trailer for Kindergarten Rocks! many years after it came out and it regenerated sales like crazy! Now it’s one of my biggest selling books and I saw the leap after the video was created.
3. But Katie, you’re a children’s book author and my book’s a memoir/an adult novel/ an anthology. You don’t have any tips for an author like me, do you?
Another wrote, “Not just for Kid-lit authors, and not just for writers. Get ready for a good read and a great boost to your business. Katie Davis breaks down the: what’s, when’s, where’s, and why’s to Children’s book promoting, but the information in this book describes how marketing is done in this day and age for any person, business, or corporation.”
The book is jam-packed with information, and you can take the ideas and principles and apply it to your business or memoir/adult novel or anthology. Yes, boy, have I got tons upon tons of tips!
4. Quick! If an author doesn’t do anything else for book promotion, she (or he) MUST ______________________.
Start an email list! Yesterday!
So now I’m adding Rafflecopter for this giveaway and really, I hope you win.
But I can’t help thinking about Dirty Harry asking, “Do you feel lucky?”

Your enthusiasm is catching, even at 11:00 at night after two glasses of wine. 🙂 Glad you enjoyed your conference, and I’m looking forward to hearing more about it as the week progresses.
It might take a week to get to it, Lisa. 🙂 Tired and reeling from all the wonderful writing take-away, but already planning the next book (or seven). 🙂
Ooh! Me! Me! I want it!!
And I want you to win it, Hannah! (But…um…there can be only one winner, winner, chicken dinner. Just sayin’.) 🙂
After my SM experience, I know I STILL don’t know enough about book promotion and I need to learn more…fast! I’m especially interested in reading what Katie has to say about book trailers. I don’t have one. I always thought they were too complicated to produce myself and too expensive to hire someone. Perhaps I was wrong? I hope so.
Oh my word, Trisha! You have to jump on this offer and get all the free stuff that comes along with this book NOW. And yes, she’s HUGELY into video (go check her website)!
Yes, pleeeeeeeease! I neeeeeeeeed this. Pick meeeeeeeee! 🙂
Tanya, I bet you have one of those ebook credits–I mean a decent one, not 73 cents like yours truly. 🙂 I can think of a good way to use that credit. 😉
Ooo, ooo, ooo! (Waving my arm over my head and doing my best Horshack impression – oops, I think I dated myself!)
Yeah, who is this Horshack you speak of, Cathi? 🙂 (Dang. Now I’ve got that theme song in my head…welcome back, welcome back, welcome back…)
I swear, you must spend a portion of every day looking for great stuff to give away!! And to reply to your Dirty Harry quote: “Make my day!” Pick me for your giveaway!
Fingers crossed, Gail! And yes, I’m always fishing for great writing stuff!
Cathy, I love your website. I especially love your worm on the hook that goes up and down as you scroll and made me jump out of my chair when it first appeared! Thanks for your giveaway of Katie Davis’ book. I really need to learn how to create a web presence and a platform, I know it’s important, I’m not sure how to do it, and I know her book is a great resource. Congratulations on your informative and enticing website!
Thanks SO much, Lori! I love that worm, too. Did you click on it? (I had it on my website for months before I scrolled across it!) Good luck!
Thank you, Katie Davis’s book is a must have.
Indeed it is, Shiela!
Thanks for featuring Katie’s replies to your questions on ‘pre-published’ authors, Cathy. I am one of those, but for several years have lived on Katie’s prompts and urgings to get my platform rockin’ and make connections. I already have this great book and guide (so don’t include me in the give-away). Katie’s book DOES include a full-sized comprehensive package on marketing books.
Great material and the lucky winner of this contest will have a big catch when they haul this book in!
Ah, I love someone who can tie a comment into my theme. 😉 Thanks for stopping by!
Great questions and answers! You’ve convinced me that I need this book, whether I win it or not. 🙂
Yay! Go. Run, Debra, and get it NOW!
Pick me! Pick me!
My picture book “The Forgotten Rabbit” is released tomorrow (4/1, no kidding) so I sure could use this book!
Katie sure has been using all her marketing know how on promoting this book – so you know anyone could learn a lot with it! Thanks for sharing.
