Let Your Imagination Run Wild at the Cafe

The Imagination Cafe is an on-line kid’s magazine full of wild and wacky stuff. I’m sure most 8 to 12 year olds would find the site appealing…quizzes, stories, celebrity goof-ups, recipes, and more. You can take a peek around to see the kind of material the editor likes, but you won’t be able to access all the departments.

And you might not be able to figure out the editorial calendar. That’s because, technically, there isn’t one. It looks like Imagination Cafe publishes when the editor feels like it. So, if you can deal with loose limits, then give it a try. You can check out the contributor’s guidelines here.

Um, you also won’t find the pay, but I’m sure it’s a paying market. And I’ll keep you posted. I submitted a quiz, I think. So, if I ever find out more about the quiz, I’ll let you know whether this market is a true keeper or not!

I Get a Kick out of Kiki

You can, too, if you check out the magazine’s website here. You’ll get all the information you need if you’d like to submit, but here’s a quick preview for you.

Kiki Magazine is new on the market, targeted to 9 to 13 year old girls with an interest in fashion and design. Think “Project Runway” for the young set. In fact, I think their fall issue had paper dolls designed by one of the last season’s Runway designers. How cool is that?

I LOVED paper dolls when I was a kid. I don’t know if I still loved them at 13, but I kinda like the idea of something as innocent as paper dolls in a girl’s magazine with a cool, edgy look. So, if you think you can write something cool, edgy and appealing to tweens, then check out Kiki Magazine.

P.S. I queried with a quiz.  I’ll keep you posted!
