Finding Something Friday: Oopsies, Forgot This Critique Business

So, all that talk about critique and I forgot to mention the site I wanted to share with you. It’s about (You guessed it.) critique. Sheesh.

It’s called Ladies Who Critique, and I nosed around a bit over there and thought it looked interesting, especially for a writer who’s not quite ready to share her work with the world (or the other folks in her real, live critique group). Or possibly for the writer who lives out in Montana.
I don’t know why I always pick Montana when I think of people living out in the middle of wide, open spaces. I’m sure there are probably swell towns in Montana. There are towns there, right?
I feel as if I’m meandering off into my own wide open spaces here…the point is, Ladies Who Critique has opportunities for just about every kind of writer, for every stage of the writer. And it’s free.
So, there are no excuses left, ladies. It’s time to take the page by the er…send button, and get critique. Whether you do anything with that critique is up to you.

  1. It's worth noting that critiquing is an evaluative process of defining both the weaknesses AND the strengths of a particular work, not just pointing out its faults (as some people seem to think).

  2. Absolutely, Eric! I think some writers shy away from critique for fear they'll be raked over the coals. But good critique is…well, what you said. (And may I add, you said it very well.;-)

  3. I'm off to visit per Yoda's instruction. Bet this is a good place just to "bounce" something to see how it fares. You know, before I punish my face-to-face writers' group with something. 🙂

  4. Lisa, I always love reading anything you write, but you know what I'm thinking? You've written women's fiction and romance…maybe a good place to get those stories critiqued!Sally, I like that price, too. 😉 Let me know if you try it, okay?Laura, I love your idea! I have quite a few writer friends who can't commit to a regular group. I think this would be an excellent option for them!

  5. I can always count on you to find an interesting, and helpful site! I'm going to check it out because the in town group I'm in (this is the second one) is falling apart, and my online crit group is too. *sigh* is it me?????
