Oh, dear. It’s that time of year again when the days grow warmer and the honeysuckle’s on the breeze and my little toesies wiggle in flip flops. And I have a terrible time, sitting inside at my laptop, writing, when what I really want to do is go outside and play.
Maybe if I had this awesome blog planner, courtesy of Erica over at Confessions of a Homeschooler, it would help. Of course, I’d still have to write everything down on the pages to get myself organized which would involve…oh, dear. More writing.
But at least I came across this delightful blog post about dialogue tags from Dottie over at Trust Me…I’m a Writer for when I absolutely have to get some work done on the novel manuscript.
I have to admit that “said” is my go to dialogue tag, but I’ll occasionally throw in a “grunted” or “snarled.” And I’m a big fan of “whispered.” Oh! And yelled. As in “Hold your horses,” she yelled. “I just have one more sentence to write.”
You know I love you, right? But this year, it’s Cathy C.’s Hall of Fame’s turn to have a Christmas Giveaway. Next year, you’ll get a turn. I promise.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t dash over to the Hall of Fame and join in the fun! Just leave a comment on any post in December and you’re in Santa’s hat for the drawing. So far, I’ve added quite proper British teas and a special edition tote bag. Every writer needs goodies like those, right? Because I really do love and appreciate all the wonderful friends who follow my blogs and this is just the perfect time of the year to send out my own special edition of thanks. But, um, only one writer follower can win. So, go! Dash away, dash away, dash away all!
Wait! Come back for just a minute and read about the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award. This year, the powers that be have added another separate prize for a Young Adult novel! So, you can win BIG bucks and a BIG publishing contract! But you can’t win if you don’t send in your novel and follow all the rules.
Sort of like the Hall of Fame Christmas Giveaway. Now, dash away, dash away, dash away all!
