Finding Words of Wisdom (From Writers You Know)

When I stumbled upon this list of 101 writers and their words of wisdom, I knew I had to share.

First of all, I LOVE quotes, and the pithier, the better. It’s like a little learning lesson, isn’t it?

And secondly, I’m all for wisdom. And when the wisdom has to do with writing, I feel behooved to jump on it.

So, check out this list, provided by Online College. Someone went to a lot of trouble so that you, the wisdom-seeking writer, could find a TON of quotes in one place.

P.S. Maurice Sendak’s advice about revision is an eye-opening keeper, and Roald Dahl made me smile. I’ll keep these words in my writing heart:

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”

Have you found a favorite yet? Let me know whose words of wisdom you’ll keep in your writing heart!

    • That’s really getting it down to the essence of the business, isn’t it? Thanks for dropping in, Scott!

  1. Wow. What a treasure trove of wisdom and encouragement. I needed this! I liked E.B. White’s advice, too. If HE admires anyone who has the guts to write, then it can’t be as easy as non-writers think it is. 🙂

    • Hmmm…The story itself (Wringer) is not really grabbing me, but it’s well written. I can see why it would win awards. (I liked The Grimm Legacy more–no surprise there-;-) )
