So I’m super ridiculously excited about the good: This weekend, I’m going to the…HIGHLIGHTS WHOLE NOVEL WORKSHOP!!!!
But the bad is, it’s in Pennsylvania. Why does it have to be Pennsylvania? (Nothing personal against Pennsylvania. It’s just so…oh, what’s the word? STINKIN’ FAR FROM GEORGIA–which yes, is way more than one word. But fear will make one lose the ability to count.)
But wait! What’s really GOOD is that I’ll be whipping that novel of mine into shape with the help of an amazing editor (who happens to be Martha Mihalick from Greenwillow who just happens to have the EXACT SAME WordPress template as Cathy C. Hall. I mean, how weird is that?). And, there will also be all kinds of other extremely talented writers and such helping me as well. Wheeee!
And what could possibly be bad about that, you ask? Well, I have to get on a PLANE because all of these people are in freakin’ PENNSYLVANIA!!!!!!
I really, really do not like to fly. Really. Especially without the Beneficent Mr. Hall there to say, “Cathy! You’re being crazy. Now calm DOWN before they kick us all off the plane.”
But I know that once I get there it will be all super fantastically, awesomely GOOD!!!!! Unless I’m so fearfully bad that the pilot tries to kick me off the plane. And that, my friends, could get epically ugly.

P.S. Is it just me or is The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly one of the all-time best spaghetti westerns that coincidentally has the most awesome title ever to work into a blog post? And aren’t you hearing that opening music now?

And air travel is safer than driving. Plus you aren’t going to die one day before God says you are going to die. And if he’s decided you’ll die this weekend it doesn’t matter if you are flying or sitting at home on your couch. So go ahead and fly, and heck, do a little sky-diving while you’re at it.
kidding. I’ll never sky dive. Ever. Because even though I’m sure that I’ll die when God says I’m going to die and not before, I can’t shake the feeling that if I were to sky dive (or bungee jump or ride a roller coaster or…) he’d say, “Really? You’re stupid enough to jump out of plane? You’re dangerous. I better take you now before you hurt someone.”
But flying to a Founders’ Workshop is not stupid. It’s smart. Very good move.

The fearless Cathy Hall worried to fly? Phew, I can’t believe it. Just have Joe/Dave record an encouraging mantra on your laptop, which I figure you’re taking with you, and when you can use electronics, play it for yourself!!! It’s so fabulous you’re going to the Whole Novel Workshop. Please tell Jo Llloyd, She-Who-Knows-Everything, hello from me. They won’t forget me since I’m the only person to ever get locked into The Hall of Christ at Chautauqua! (Not the best spot for a Jewish girl… or a visually impaired one either!
A former student of mine is also going to the workshop- name is Valerie Cagle. One of my Chautauqua buddies has been there this week but is leaving Saturday or Sunday. Name Deb Williams.
Last great reason to be going??? I hear the food is extraordinary!!! Have fun. Maybe Kent Brown will talk with COAS.
