Writers are always being admonished to “show, don’t tell.” Maybe that’s what Lerner and Lowe were thinking about when they wrote this song for MY FAIR LADY.
Though to be honest, I was thinking about Good Friday, and how much we’re loved, and how even God knew that He had to show us.
Julie sings it so well. Show them (the reader)!
Oh, Julie. *Sigh* I can’t help it. She should’ve starred in the movie. Audrey was fine. But Julie. *swoons*
Love that movie. And love that God proved his love for us in this: that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Agree on both counts, Sally. Have a blessed Easter!
Happy Easter to you!
And to you, Kelly!
Amen, Kathy and sometimes it seems I have to hear it over and over again. It’s been a lovely Good Friday here. Had my devotions this morning in my room. Made kuchens for Easter breakfast for my family and am thankful I still filled my 14 yearold grandaughters Easter basket and hid it for Easter morning. God Bless and happy Easter.
June
I don’t think I’ve ever heard of hiding an Easter BASKET, but it sounds like fun! Happy Easter to you, too, June!
I agree that Julie should have been allowed to bring her Broadway performance to the big screen — especially since Audrey Hepburn’s singing voice was dubbed because she couldn’t sing! But I adore Audrey, too. This was Papa’s favorite musical (after The Student Prince). A few months before he died I took him to see the play at the Cobb Performing Arts Center. He fell asleep about fifteen minutes in, woke up for his very favorite line (“Move yer bloomin’ arse!”), then snoozed off and on through the rest. LOL Miss him. Thanks for bringing him to mind in the middle of my day. 🙂
