If there’s one thing I have a buttload of, it’s potty stories. And though I have three kidders, ALL the potty stories come from the same child. Namely, John, who was, if I may say so, not only aptly named but also quite imaginative in the bathroom arena.
Anyway, the bottom line to this endless stream of puns is that one of my potty stories was accepted for Monkey Star Press‘ upcoming potty anthology. And this particular anthology has been pushed to the top of the pile, so it will be published soon!
And according to Lisa Nolan, who’s the force behind Monkey Star Press, she will be looking for other stories very soon. Like next week soon. So keep your eyes pee-led for the next call out.
(So I’m gonna go now. And when I say “go” I mean…yeah, never mind.)
Gosh, we’re barreling into the end of the month and that means deadlines! So perhaps we should start with today’s deadline.
Simmer down, now, you don’t have to write anything for this deadline. But you do have to hustle over to Amazon (and yes, I know some of us are all in a snit about Amazon, but this is a FREE book so it’s not like we’re helping Amazon, right?)
Anyway, the book. It’s called Getting Published:How To Access Editors and it’s by Laura Purdie Salas who’s a poet, educator, and writer for children. And she also works as a mentor (Mentors for Rent) and writes books about the writing business. (See Getting Published: How to Access Editors). To be honest, we don’t have time to go on and on about how wonderful Laura is because that book’s only free TODAY.
Now the next deadline, I’m afraid, is coming up at the end of the month. But the topic is Potty Training (And Other Bathroom Mishaps). I mean, who doesn’t have a couple potty training/bathroom mishaps? I’m sure you can flush something out in no time at all. All you need is a can-do attitude. (Okay, I’ll stop now. But you have to admit I was on a roll. Um…yeah. Stopping now for reals.)
And now you have a bit of a breather because you have almost a month (Yay! A whole month!) to get your story for the latest call out from Mozark Press. This time around, the Shaker of Margaritas editors are looking for stories about That Mysterious Woman. And I’m not going to lie. I have quite the story for this anthology. Bwahahahahaaa.
You, however, are probably going to have to write something. So maybe you should get busy.
Okay. I admit it. I have this Christopher Walken thing. It’s kinda weird, but probably nowhere near as weird as Walken. Anyway, when Elizabeth Dulemba shared this peek of him telling the story of The Three Little Pigs, I had to watch. You don’t have to watch unless you, too, have a thing for Christopher Walken. Or The Three Little Pigs.
So here’s my other fun find for today: Pugaliscious Press is looking for YA for an anthology!
Here’s a chance for you writers who are all about the short stories. Say around 3,000 to 7500 words. Oh! And your story has to fit the historical romance genre. And even if you’re like me and your story is around 2,000 words, you have till March 30th to spiff up that YA.
Which is a very good thing. Because I have a few Christopher Walken clips to watch before I get down to writing.
