Oatmeal Studios is a greeting card market. Yeah, that’s right. But a humorous greeting card market. Maybe there’s something terribly amusing about oatmeal that I just don’t grasp. Which might make it difficult for me to break into this market.
But hope springs eternal. I’m always sending out greeting card ideas. I’ve got, as the saying goes, a million of ’em. And one day, a Cathy C. Hall funny bon mot or two is going to sit up on that greeting card shelf in the grocery store. And I’m going to wait behind the shelf, watching people read cards. Possibly pushing, er, pointing them politely to a humorous Oatmeal Studios card.
Hey, it could happen. But I’ve got to actually write them first. So, let’s check out this market and put our funny pens to paper. Because I bet you’ve got a million ideas, too. And if you think oatmeal is hilarious, you’re already one step ahead of me.
Hey Cathy,Thanks for the hot tip. Oatmeal is one of my favorite breakfast foods, and I love greeting cards.Guess you could say I'm on this one like raisins on oatmeal. Donna
I can totally see you hanging out in the greeting card section of Publix, watching people picking up cards and you might just happen to blurt out loud, "These Oatmeal cards are a riot–definitely the best selections here"!!! I think oatmeal is one of those versatile foods that can be appreciated in its own bland, lumpy simplicity or can be dressed up with jam or cinammon or brown sugar or just about anything when you need a bit more jazz in your menu.
Y'all crack me up. Go. Write. Send out your funny lines. And make others laugh out loud (like I just did)!
Sadly, Oatmeal S. didn't like my humor. I thought my stuff was a laugh riot, but they tossed it in the sink. It has been a few years so it may be time to try again. I'd love to see some of your one-liners, Master Y. Oatmeal S. may have thought mine were soggy, but I bet they slurp yours right up!
But how will I know it's your great idea in the card, Cathy? How will I know if it's an original Hall-mark card. (Ha ha! Get it? Yes? No?) 🙂
Lisa, you were on a roll, girl! You know, those card companies are TOUGH. Kind of like the oatmeal I fix.Yes, Madeline, I got it. And I laughed out loud. See how funny we are?Write your fingers off! Well, not completely.
I can never find a good card! I've read your writing and your ideas HAVE to be better than what I find at the store!
And what about you, Cher? You always have funny stuff (and pics, too)! I can think of tons of folks who'd buy a Texas Woman card…'course, they'd have to be wrapped in um, brown paper 🙂
